Sara is a Site Reliability Engineer and manager at Google, where she also works on many diversity and inclusion efforts including Bias Busting and the Disability Alliance. She has previously worked for the Wikimedia Foundation, was once a regular Wikipedia editor, and led a Wikipedia editathon at Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. She has served as an advisor to the Ada Initiative, supporting women in open technology and culture. She is a lifelong learner with a BA in mathematics from Simon's Rock, an MA in philosophy from Tufts, and a certificate in computational linguistics from San Jose State. Her computer interests include systems engineering at scale, Linux, Python, open source, security, privacy, and pseudonymity. She is from the U.S. Virgin Islands, collects yellow pigs, swims, reads, and grows vegetables.
